題目：Infant language development – perception, learning and bilingualism

摘要：This talk focuses on several aspects of language development in infancy. First, I will discuss infant phonological acquisition, and use empirical behavioural and neurophysiological data to compare monolingual and bilingual infants’ speech (consonant, vowel and tone) and music perception. Second, I will briefly present two studies showing infant word learning ability and developmental patterns using different methods. Third, I would like to address early trace of syntactic acquisition by sharing Dr. Ileana Grama’s findings on non-adjacent dependency. Last but not least, I will show our recent research on a specific learning mechanism – statistical learning, including its effects and implications. Time permitting, I will talk about various findings on child multilingualism beyond the language field, showing an overall impact of (multilingual) exposure on child development across domains.
